Home Education Residential Trip w/c 13th May 2024

Thank you for your interest in our Home Education residential. We are developing a product specifically designed for the home education community to enjoy this week with us each year. In order to help us shape this product we are offering discounted prices on the weeks residential Monday 13th to Friday 17th of May 2024.

This residential is for parents/carers to attend with their children.

Costs

£245 – Per fully participating adult or child 7 years old and above

Adults have the choice to participate in the activities or not. If you wish to participate in the activities we have to include you in the numbers for risk assessments, minibus use and insurance so the price is as above,

£150 – Per non participating adult and attending siblings under 7 or over 3 years old

Adults who are coming to fulfil a pastoral role and/or are caring for an attending younger sibling pay the above.

Younger siblings are welcome, we do not provide supervision so they will be in your care. We have several nice spaces that will be available to you to cater for their needs. Depending on numbers we may be able include them in one or two of the simpler activities so where we can we will make this happen.

Under 4’s are free of charge

Under 4’s are welcome but will be totally in your care.

The programme of activities

Local Adventure Walk starts and finishes at the centre and goes up to the local crag and follies.

Watersports takes place off site, a short minibus ride to Ponden Reservoir.

Climbing and abseiling takes place on-site at our purpose built climbing wall

High Ropes & Zip Wire takes place on-site on our dedicated ropes course.

Archery / Teambuilding all take place on-site.

Cave and Dales day Caving A session exploring the underground world of limestone caves and passageways in the Yorkshire Dales.

Evening entertainment will included:

Labyrinth ( our indoor cave maze)

Blind Line

Camp fire and Circus Skills

A free time eveing where our Cinema room will be available.

Special needs

We are not a specialist centre but we have professional and caring staff who work week in week out with children with all manner of needs. We welcome a pre visit meeting (virtual or on-site) to discuss an inclusion plan and we will do our upmost to be fully inclusive. Wheelchair access to the buildings is limited and wheelchair access to some of the activities requires some manual handling, again come and talk to us about your specific requirements.

Catering

The residential is fully catered from Monday evening so all you will need is a packed lunch for Monday.

We cater for all manner of dietary requirements week in week out and our domestic team would be happy to speak to you privately about any special requirements.

Accommodation

We have a variety of rooms from larger dorms to smaller en-suite rooms, in order to keep costs down for you we are going to allocate rooms. Each family will get a private room and where possible private bathroom facilities. If you expect a private room with shared bathroom facilities, then anything else will be a bonus. We will allocate rooms in order of paid bookings.

General Notes

We are providing this residential at discounted price, we would value your feedback during and after the trip to help us shape the product. We have been running residentials for schools and Youth groups for over 20 years so don’t worry, its not our first rodeo. We have not engaged with the home education community before and our knowledge is limited to our own home educating manager Henry, so we are looking to broaden our experience in order to provide residentials that have value.

We do need at least 10 paying clients to book onto this trip to make it viable to run, if we don’t get that number you will of course be fully refunded.
